WHO THE HELL IS DONNY RADWELL?

Donny Radwell is a guitarist, producer, rapper, and professional audio engineer born in San Diego, California. His father was a U.S. Navy Chief and his mother a bank teller obsessed with Elvis Presley. The first CD he purchased was 'Enema of the State' by Blink 182. At age thirteen the Radwell family moved to Casper, Wyoming.

After several years of piano lessons, Radwell began playing guitar at age fifteen, when his parents purchased an Esteban Acoustic Guitar from QVC as a birthday present. Shortly after, he began composing and recording music with BOSS Loop Pedals combined with his Roland HP-2, an SM58, and a Squire Stratocaster. The Roland HP-2 was eventually gifted to Keaton Elsasser of Elk Tongue in 2016.

During his senior year, Radwell saved $700 bussing tables to purchase a Mexican Jazzmaster from local punk rock frontman Lunchbox of Russian Made Robots. Donny Radwell received a standing ovation at two talent shows during his senior year at Kelly Walsh High School playing 'Creep' by Radiohead. During this time, he took guitar as an elective class and performed 'Little Wing' by Jimi Hendrix, 'The Needle and The Damage Done' by Neil Young, and 'Gagging Order' by Radiohead as a final assessment.

Shortly after graduating, Radwell pirated a cracked version of Ableton Live 9 from The Pirate Bay, which he still uses to this day. Soon after he became interested in sampling and sample-based hip-hop production after listening to the newly released 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' by Kanye West.

In 2012, Donny Radwell moved to Laramie, Wyoming and participated in the legendary Stones Throw Beat Battles every week for five months. These beats were then sent to Mirage Zamprioli based in Van Nuys, California, who co-produced and mixed them for release as an instrumental album similar to Flying Lotus. However, Radwell began writing lyrics and recording vocals to these beats with a Blue Bluebird microphone combined with a Focusrite 2i2, turning the project into a proper rap EP under the name 'Proved You Wrong', mixed by Zamprioli and mastered by Chris Graham. Years later, vocals were later re-recorded with a Rode K2 and remixed over the instrumentals by David Scharf, and the project was released under a different title: 'Cruisin' On LSD'. Longtime collaborator and graphic designer Dustin Neal of Social Animal Studios produced the album art.

While in Laramie, Radwell briefly formed a band called Jobin, which rehearsed in the abandoned doctor's office above the restaurant where he worked. Radwell also regularly performed solo at Laramie's infamous Buckhorn biker bar and participated in local songwriting contests, where he met Keaton Elasser of the band Elk Tongue. Elasser, who graduated from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, recorded an unreleased album with Radwell titled 'Fossils' at Salmon Palace studios in Laramie, WY, assisted by Dylan Stowers on drums.

In July 2015, Donny Radwell performed in the fifth annual Wyoming Blues Challenge hosted by Wyoming Blues and Jazz Society. He did not win the contest, however he met future collaborator and local noise rock guitarist Brandon Schulte of Juice Falcon. After the performance, Schulte invited Radwell to record an EP to cassette tape with a vintage Tascam analog mixer. This project was released under the title 'Moon Without An Ocean', mixed and mastered by Schulte with drums performed by Chase Gillins of Kid Brother. Album art was illustrated by Portland tattoo artist Cass Wolfe.

In 2016, Radwell began producing beats inspired by Run The Jewels and collaborated with local rapper Versus Humanity to create a politically charged EP aimed at newly elected president Donald Trump. This five song project featuring verses by Radwell and Versus Humanity was released under the name 'AOTD' in 2017. Featuring the single 'PAFN (Punch A Fucking Nazi)', which quickly received ten thousand views on YouTube, the project was once again mixed & mastered by David Scharf, but entirely produced by Radwell. Artwork once again was designed by Dustin Neal of Social Animal Studios. During this time, Radwell also posted a cover of 'Little Wing' by Jimi Hendrix to Soundcloud, which also quickly received ten thousand views after being posted on Reddit's r/Guitar subreddit.

In 2017, Radwell moved to New York City, where he began performing regularly at Prohibition's weekly open mics on Mondays. At this venue in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, he honed his guitar, vocal, and performing abilities with help from the house band comprised of keyboardist Swang Stewart, guitarist Jason Murden, bassist Antar Goodwin, and drummer Andy Bauer of Twin Shadow, who would provide drum samples for Radwell's later productions. During this time, Radwell was also involved in guerilla journalism exposing astroturfing efforts promoting Amazon HQ2 in Long Island City, Queens.

In 2020, Radwell began interning at professional recording studios in Manhattan and Brooklyn responsible for engineering Solange & Kid Cudi respectively. Shortly after, he landed a job as a recording & mixing engineer with Sound Studios, where he worked with hundreds of underground rappers over the course of a year, honing his recording and mixing abilities. He recorded and mixed the track of 'Not A Rapper' by Lilz G, which quickly received thirty-thousand views.

In 2022, Donny Radwell moved to Denver, Colorado, where he fabricated and installed acoustic treatment panels for Contour Audio & Acoustics. In 2023, Radwell produced and wrote one-hundred rap songs inspired by Conductor Williams & Westside Gunn and released seventy-six demos on his Soundcloud under the name 'Your Welcome Bish'. As of March 2024, he has released nine music videos from this project, tentatively titled 'Knife Hits'.

Longtime collaborator Dustin Neal of Social Animal Studios is currently working with Radwell to compile 'Knife Hits' into an NFT release titled '40OZ'.
